About Vast
Selected on Irish farms for Irish farmers you won’t find Vast on the PPI. Vast has been trialled and tested by DLF since 2020 and has produced some very impressive results under real Irish farming conditions.
The DLF Variety Grazing Trial was set up to see which grass varieties performed best when grazed by cows rather than cut by a machine as is standard in DAFM testing
Of the 21 varieties on trial, Vast consistently excelled in the three key metrics we use to measure grazing efficiency;
- Dry Matter Yield
- Utilised Yield
- Grazability – the residual sward height after grazing
Vast - The Most Effective Grazing Variety
This graph shows clearly that Vast was the most efficient grazing variety in a trial that included some household names of the ryegrass world. In addition to its grazing efficiency, Vast has exceptional spring growth. This means a strong supply of the cheapest and best quality feed at a time when it is most needed and most profitable for your farm system.
